About Ust t Us

After working within finance environments for over twenty years, I moved to Lincolnshire and set-up Dakota Bookkeeping in 2024.  I have a wealth of knowledge and experience, having worked in both practice and industry, working with everything from small fishing boats to equestrian centres to alternative energy companies to independent craft breweries to agricultural businesses to construction companies to delicatessens and cafes.  However, even after twenty years, I’m the first to admit I don’t know everything, but I promise, if I don’t know, I will find out. I’m a firm believer in you never stop learning, as a result I’m working towards Fellowship with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB).

I got into accounts over twenty years ago when my plan to join the Royal Air Force, well, didn’t go according to plan, an injury playing hockey and knee surgery changed everything, so what was plan b? I’ve always had a love of numbers, so I jumped at the opportunity to join a family-run agricultural business as part of their accounts team. Over the years I have worked with and for some amazing businesses at various stages of development, from new start-ups to established heart of the community businesses, and these are the businesses that I want to keep working with. The person who has had a brilliant idea, to run their own business but not sure where to start. The family-run business that needs someone to look after the numbers so they can look after the business. The small local business that doesn’t need someone full-time to look after the books but needs someone to take away the stress and free-up time for the owner to grow the business. No two businesses are the same, so no two bookkeeping services are the same, I will work with you to create the service you need.

Why Dakota Bookkeeping.  Away from accounts, I have been involved with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, firstly as a Cadet and then an Adult Volunteer for over thirty years.  Aircraft recce was never my strongest subject, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Dakota, it was one I always got right in quizzes and competitions!  The RAF has a long history in Lincolnshire and with several Dakotas in various museums throughout the county, it was the perfect choice.

If I’m not at my desk, I’m usually found enjoying the great outdoors with my Springer Spaniels.  I’m also a qualified outdoor instructor in walking & mountain biking, so there is always an adventure getting planned and in 2023 I started mantrailing with my youngest Spaniel, Theo, which we absolutely love!

Dakota Bookkeeping is an independent bookkeeping practice, based in Lincolnshire and licenced by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), Licence No: 24286.
